Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum

Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum in London is located inside the grounds of All England Lawn Tennis Club. The museum was inaugurated in 1977 and was reopened on 12th April 2006 by H.R.H the Duke of Kent and became top attraction in 2006.

The museum receives thousands of visitors from all around the world to experience the evolution of the game as a professional sport.

Highlights of the museum are-

Centrecourt360- Centrecourt360 provides an opportunity to the museum guests to experience Centre Court, bringing them only steps away from the famous grass. Interactive touch screen computers are available that provide the complete information of Centre Court in 8 different languages- English, French, Japanese, Italian, Russian, German, Spanish and Mandarin.

Museum’s 200 degree cinema captures the Science of Tennis and also contains videos of memorable tournament matches.

Ghost of John McEnroe- With the help of technology, a ghost-like image of McEnroe has been created by the museum in which he talks about his opponents, his game and his preparation before the matches.

Collection of the museum- The museum has a collection of memorabilia that dates back to 1955 to the present day which includes trophies, medals, tennis equipments, souvenirs and mementos. Also the collection includes outfits of various famous Wimbledon champions- Pete Sampras, and Martina Navratilova. It also displays outfits of the home favorite Andy Murray. The latest addition to this list includes Roger Federer and Williams sister’s 2009 Wimbledon kit as well as outfits of 2010 Wimbledon champions -Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams.

Museum Library- The Kenneth Ritchie Wimbledon Library of the museum has huge collections of lawn tennis books, periodicals, paper cuttings, programs, videos related to tennis.

Wimbledon Shop- The museum contains Wimbledon shop that provides wide range of souvenirs for visitors such as- tennis accessories, books, jewelry, sports bags and DVDs related to tennis.
